In the morning we will start offroad jeeps tour and drive from Tbilisi to eastern Georgia where Alaverdi Monastery from the 6th century is located. Monument is one of the largest churches in Georgia. On this day a lifetime experience awaits you - Tusheti road. Our main goal after starting the jeeps to reach Omalo. First we drive towards Abano pass(2900m). It is the highest drivable mountain pass in the Caucasus and one of the highest roads of Europe. Only 4x4 vehicles with high clearance can pass it safely. On the Abano pass you will get a fabulous view because it is arguably one of the most beautiful roads in the world. Surrounded by divinely large mountains, the loud silence of the wind flying in mountains creates a magical effect on the atmosphere.

After this adventure we will reach the central village of the region Omalo(1880m) – a place which is half a year cut off from the rest of Georgia due to lack of roads. Here you will see amazing nature with green grass, dense forests, fresh air, and Keselo towers guarding their homeland from the 13th century. Everything will make you think that you are on another planet.

Overnight in Omalo.

(Distance 14km (7km one way) - Elevation Gain/Loss - 1000m)

In the morning we will drive to Kumulaurta. We will pass the huge mountains and the green scenery. From Kumulaurta, we will climb to the Oreti lake - first through the beautiful forest, then through meadows and pastures. From the lake, lying right below the Russian border, we will admire almost the whole Tusheti region. After taking amazing landmark pictures we will drive to Shenako village where pagan shrines and Christian churches stand together. Beautiful pine forested areas and alpine slopes change each other.

Overnight in Diklo

(Distance - 6.5km, Elevation Gain - 820m, Elevation Loss - 700m) Additional distance to Diklo fortress (Distance - 5km, Elevation Gain/loss 150m)

On this day first we will walk to Diklo Fortress. Border guards will guide us to the fortress. From the fortress you can see the beautiful landscape of Caucasus mountains with 2 Daghestani villages. After that we will hike to Chigho – one of the wildest and most remote villages of Tusheti in alpine pastures surrounded by several strong shrines including Lasharis Jvari (cross of Lashari). Village is the dream for trekkers. There you will see unbeaten passes, and amazing wilderness which can be reached by horse or foot.

For this day our last destination (now by car - with a recently built dirt road) will be the dream place Dartlo Village (1820m) – location without civilization where you will feel like in the middle ages. The village is located at the banks of Tusheti’s Alazani river. There you can taste mountain food, cheese, and Dartlo Café.

In the morning we will hike to Kvavlo village above the hill ascent from village to the place where eagles fly down to Georgia. Our hike will continue to Dano, a small village in Tusheti. After driving between huge mountains and green nature we will reach this the most romantic village in Georgia. There you will see towers built by Lezgins (Daghestanis). Local people are very hospitable and kind. They are keeping the traditions of beer brewing. You can taste natural homemade Georgian beer and watch the beautiful landscapes of alpine meadows which may be full of flowers in the land where spring starts in June. From Parsma village we will have a short walk to Girevi (2050m), you will be amazed by the magical nature there. We will reach Chechnya's border, where the last tower village of Georgia in Alazani gorge – Girevi is located.

(Distance - 14.6km, Elevation Gain - 1195m, Elevation Loss - 1274m down)

After breakfast we will start hiking to Nakaicho pass (2900m). We will enjoy panoramas from the pass which is on the top of Pirikita ridge which separates the largest valleys of Tusheti. In clear weather we will have 360° views of the whole Tusheti as well as of the prominent peaks to the north such as Diklo, Komito and Dano. After taking beautiful photos we will continue our hike to Jvarboseli (1900m).

Overnight in Jvarboseli

This morning we will drive to Iliurta village which has one of 2 main churches of Tusheti, the other one in Shenako. Tush consider themselves as Christians however with shrines and beliefs their christianity is very mixed with pagan beliefs. They have shrines where women can’t approach and they dont eat pork while they are in Tusheti.

From Iliurta we will hike to Vestomta village, which is an authentic panoramic village of Tushetian shepherds. It can be considered as an off the beaten path of Tusheti area. We will make it to the ridge and enjoy the views of gorges and beautiful villages around us.

Overnight in Jvarboseli

We will start the day with a short walk to the beautiful small village Dochu (2030m), from where an amazing panoramic view can be seen of the breathtaking gorge and huge mountains. Our next destination will be Europe’s one of the highest villages with a permanent population – Bochorna. After taking the break and viewing this magnificent view we will drive to the main village of Tusheti - Omalo.

Finally we will descend to the lowlands in the Tbilisi hotel or wine hotel in Kakheti.
